The Instrumentum Laboris (“working tool”) for the first session of the Universal Phase of the Synod has been released. This documentis based on the material gathered during the previous phases of the Synod: it shares insights that have emerged in the synodal process so far, opens up questions, and invites further study. The Instrumentum Laboris is available from the official Synod website, and has also been added to our Diocesan Synod website at https://www.rcdvictoria.org/synod (under the “Universal Phase” tab). As well, the Holy See has announced the delegates who have been appointed to attend the Synod 2021-2024 session this October in Rome. This is the first Synod where non-bishop members have been invited to participate; Canada’s delegation consists of three lay people and a Religious Sister, as well as four bishops and a cardinal.
