CLERGY APPOINTMENTS

Bishop Gary Gordon has, in consultation with the Priest Personnel Committee, made the following pastoral appointments:

Rev. Mel Bayron appointed Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, Campbell River, and to provide mission outreach to St. Bernadette’s, Sayward, St. Joseph’s, Tahsis, and St. Peter & St. Paul, Gold River, effective August 12, 2023

Rev. Irek Bem, SDS, new to the Diocese, appointed Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, Nanaimo, effective August 1, 2023

Rev. Sean Flynn to remain as Hospital Chaplain for Victoria General Hospital and Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, in residence at St. Andrew’s Cathedral and to provide Sacramental supply ministry, effective September 1, 2023

Rev. Jan Grotkowski, SDS, appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Victoria, Bishop’s Delegate and Chaplain for St. Andrew’s Regional High School, and to co-provide Sacramental ministry to St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mill Bay, effective November 1, 2023

Rev. William Hann, remaining pastor of Holy Cross and St. Patrick’s, Victoria, and appointed Vicar General, effective immediately

Rev. David John, new to the Diocese, appointed Pastor of North Island Catholic Parishes, which includes Our Lady of the Assumption, Alert Bay, St. Bonaventure, Port Hardy, St Mary’s, Port McNeill, and St. Theresa’s, Port Alice, effective September 1, 2023

Rev. Jozef Kobos, SDS, will leave Holy Trinity, Nanaimo, as he is retiring and has been relocated by his Salvatorian Superior to the Archdiocese of Vancouver, effective August 1, 2023

Rev. Alfredo Monacelli appointed Vicar of Education and Faith Formation and Evangelization effective August 1, 2023. Remaining Pastor of St. Joseph the Worker, Victoria, and to co-provide Sacramental ministry to St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mill Bay, effective November 1, 2023

Rev. Stephen Paine appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Grace and St. Paul’s Parish, Salt Spring Island, effective September 1, 2023

Rev. Joseph Thomas, new to the Diocese, appointed Pastor of All Saints Parish in Chemainus/Ladysmith, effective August 12, 2023

Rev. Scott Whittemore appointed Pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Sooke, and to provide Sacramental ministry to the University of Victoria and Camosun College, effective September 1, 2023
